R. Franklin Roberts, Jr., MD, FACS

A native of Talladega, Alabama, Dr. Roberts graduated from Auburn University and the University of Alabama School of Medicine in Birmingham. He completed his initial internship in Family Practice at the University of Alabama Hospitals in Alabama following which he practiced as a solo family physician for five years. He then went on to complete his internship and residency in General Surgery at the University of South Alabama Medical Center in Mobile. Following 15 years of general surgery practice, Dr. Roberts embarked on a fellowship in Trauma Surgery and Critical Care at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville, Tennessee. He joined UGS in the summer of 2015.

Dr. Roberts enjoys the full breadth of general surgery and the added challenge of trauma surgery and critical care. He enjoys working individually with patients, staff, and surgery residents. He has a love of learning and teaching while offering compassionate care to his patients.

Dr. Roberts and his wife Gracie have three children. He has a passion for Auburn football, enjoys reading historical books, and loves outdoor activities including working in the yard, golfing, running and hunting.
