Dr. McKnight graduated with her medical degree from East Tennessee State University in 2009. Following her residency and internship in General Surgery at Greenville Health System in South Carolina, she completed her fellowship in Surgical Critical Care at the University of Hawaii.
A native of Greenville, Tennessee, Dr. McKnight sought medical experience away from the familiar eastern U.S. geographical area, to learn how other areas of the country provide quality surgical and critical care. During her fellowship in Hawaii, she saw how the increased involvement of and communication with families in the care of critically ill patients gave them confidence in the skills and commitment of physicians to the health of their loved ones.
Dr. McKnight enjoys spending time outdoors hiking, running, snow skiing, water skiing, and swimming. Her passion as a medical professional is to help people and to improve the health systems and care of people of East Tennessee.
